EP Review

It’s the sort of music that immediately makes you forget that you left a burning oven on, or should be doing something productive. Music that will make forget about everything else and just listen.

Music that speaks from the heart without the influences of commercial demand, a record label or masses of deranged fans.

...[Her music] feels real, personable and relatable - yet still has much of the catchiness you could expect from a good top 40 release...Her latest single “Cant Refuse” is a love song. One that implies and poetically speaks about her own experiences, yet avoids the pitfalls of being overly obvious. I guess this is where I got suckered... I would compare [her voice] to the 'voice of angel'

Can't Refuse is a collection of some truly inspired works. Lyrically, the album possesses several nuances of romanticism and interconnection, which she explores over six mesmerizing tracks... each one chronicling a different layer of relationships in the most delightfully honest way. The instrumentals in Can't Refuse - EP are piercing in their beauty but also allow a level of simplicity for Lainey's vocals to shine through, vocals that can only be described as ethereal.

Her songs show an emotional vulnerability and honesty without being cliché. Universal human themes such as loss, fragility, infatuation and love are implied, through an elegant understatement in her music with vocal melodies that are intricate, complex and unexpected yet still yield to our innate harmonic wish for resolution.
